Aims and Objectives

The aims and objectives of the group are to:

  • Determine, record and monitor the diversity, distribution and population levels of the moths of VC55.

  • Promote interest in and knowledge of moths in VC55.

  • Support National recording and monitoring projects (e.g.: The Pyralid and Plume Recording Scheme and National Moth Night).

Above all, the aim is to enjoy ourselves whilst contributing in a beneficial and meaningful way to the knowledge and conservation of the County lepidoptera.

Anyone is welcome to join the group on the organised events, or to submit their records to the County Recorder. All enquiries and requests for help with ID are welcomed and should be directed to the records co-ordinator.

Although focusing primarily on moths, occasional news items and images of the butterflies of Leicestershire and Rutland will also be included in this site.
